I am rather new to the SCA and am both revisiting my world histories and ramping up my sewing skills. I currently feel most comfortable in late 14th C. simple clothing (basic kirtle and veil) and will most often be found in such clothing.
However, my persona is a mid- 16th century Portuguese Jewish woman, who lived at the time of the Portuguese Inquisition. Therefore she has a Jewish name (Reyna) as well as a Christian (Brianda) name. You are welcome to call me by either one- I will gladly respond to either.
The Portuguese were in contact with many cultures (Africa, the Middle East, South and East Asia) in the 16th century. Because of this and that I celebrate our world's varied cultures and histories, you may also at times potentially find me in any pre-1600 CE garb to embrace that sentiment.
I have been enjoying fiber arts (spinning & sheep to shawl) and sewing prior to my joining the SCA. I recently have been learning weaving, natural dyeing & archery. I hope one day to be able to learn to use a pedal-lathe and the basics of both smithing & armory.
I am nearing the process of registering my name and my device. My blazon is as follows: Argent, a bend sinister Azure, a cottise top vert and cottise bottom vert, a fox's head Brunâtre, two chalices Brunâtre fimbriated Void between which is a sea Bleu celeste.
If ever honored, I would much prefer a garment-scroll or item of utility scroll. Examples may be a simple version of any of the following- hair-binding ribbon, coif, shawl, belt (woven or leather), hood, veil, simple jewelry, dagger sheath, Medieval spindle or whorl, distaff, etc.
